Landscape architecture, construction detail, and architectural flourish all contribute to a home’s curb appeal. With this McGarvey Custom Home residence in Quail West, the trifecta is firing on all cylinders, creating a spectacular entrance to a truly special home. Residential designer Rich Guzman of R.G. Designs, together with McGarvey Custom Homes, Freestyle Interiors, and Architectural Land Design have created a unique and masterful model home. The 900 square feet of water features—with bubbler fountains and three ‘floating’ palm tree beds—flank the custom-made mahogany and glass inset front doors.
“As a Landscape Architect, we strive to create balance between the exterior spaces. Typically this utilizes a combination of landscape, hardscape and the waterscape elements,” describes Christian Andrea of Architectural Land Design. “On this home we were able to utilize water as a central theme, leaving a lasting impression, from the moment you enter the home to the moment you leave. As you approach the front of the home you are greeted by a large river stone lined reflecting pool, that provides a feeling of tranquility as you walk across the bridge to the front door,” portrays Andrea.
“I wanted to take an outside-the-box approach to the design,” explains Guzman. “When you first walk into the house, you’ll notice this right away. From the inverted sliding doors in the parlor and dining room to the floating bar, this home has an indoor-outdoor feel,” explains Guzman.
“Not only do the fountains greet visitors as they enter, but the water features can also be seen from most of the living spaces in the home, giving the experience of being surrounded by water,” states Brett Backus of McGarvey Custom Homes. “The team effort to create a cutting-edge residence helped us achieve our company’s goal to constantly improve our product,” adds Backus.
The 5,754-square-foot home includes many innovative features, including intricate drywall details, 12-foot 45-degree angle inverted sliding doors, and an electrical control system that can manage an elaborate lighting design and even open and close the sliding doors.
The residence features four bedrooms, four full baths, and two half baths in addition to numerous luxury features such as a glass wine room, fireplace, and uniquely designed wet bar. “McGarvey Custom Homes continues to create estate living experiences at Quail West that resonate with today’s luxury homebuyers,” states Claudine Léger-Wetzel, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Stock Development. “McGarvey’s Bardot estate showcases the open living spaces and the combination of contemporary and more traditional finishes that are popular. Perhaps the most notable aspect of not only the Bardot, but of every new estate home design at Quail West, is the combination of luxury and livability. Homebuyers want to enjoy their estate experience. The estate home designs at Quail West provide that level of livability,” Léger-Wetzel concludes.
Ruta Menaghlazi, senior interior designer at Freestyle Interiors, describes some of the interior architectural details as ‘more modern and streamlined.’ “For example, the flush baseboards, the reverse soffits, and other deliberate architectural details provide a crisp backdrop for a warm palette of stained walnut wood cabinetry and clean-lined furnishings. The high ceilings were designed with a careful balance of simplicity and texture leading your eye upwards to the unusually tall windows which bring in a lot of natural light,” describes Menaghlazi.
”We wanted to convey that the prospective homeowners were well-traveled through the use of modern, classic, and ‘collected’ furnishings. The home features a vast collection of furnishings from across the globe. We used Indonesian, Asian, African, and Moroccan accents to add a global influence. Also, we were very conscious to include organic elements and textural fabrics to give it a more lived-in and comfortable feeling,” Menaghlazi explains.
“The kitchen has become the epicenter of home life and many customers truly enjoy entertaining and cooking for their friends and family,” explains Pete Patino, appliance product expert at Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery. “We wanted to make sure that everyone could join in the fun, so the designer made sure to incorporate cooking stations, as opposed to a traditional range which often can only be engaged by one,” states Patino. The residence also has a glass-enclosed wine room that is easily among the largest in any Naples home.
Clay Cox, president of Kitchens by Clay in Naples, helped bring the home’s interior to life through the custom kitchen cabinetry and built-in shelving found throughout the home. “My job was to absorb the vision as it was presented to me, and make it a reality by working on the logistics. Wrapping the enclosures in this home with very large walnut columns created a warm and inviting look. They also added to the overall horizontal and vertical lines that are prevalent. Using the horizontal grain match, clear-coated walnut wood veneers truly make this a unique home,” Cox adds.
Also featured at the Bardot model are hardwood and tile floors, and closets that will make any guest feel like he or she is visiting a luxury resort, according to design specialist Dan Meadows of Royal Palm Closet Design & Fine Cabinetry. “A lot of the elements in this home are timeless, including the closets,” Meadows says. “It was an exciting project to work on because of all of the contemporary elements that are included. It’s not often that we get to work on something like this in Naples, because most of the houses feature a much more traditional look,” adds Meadows.
One of the home’s top features is the ability to bring plenty of natural light indoors and effectively bridge the gap between the indoor and outdoor areas. “This is one of the factors that I think helped the home sell so quickly. We’re always trying to push the envelope,” concludes Guzman.
The collaborative effort of all brought this project from a concept to a spectacular reality. With a combined team of truly innovative professionals and cutting-edge techniques and products, the home and its curb appeal are simply irresistible.
