Talis Park Santa Barbara Model by Design West

Led by hands-on principal interior designer, Glenn Midnet, the talented team at Design West recently completed their Santa Barbara Model home in Talis Park. Designers Dominique LaManna and Caroline Ficquette wanted the home to embody a “coastal California look”, which they achieved by combining traditional old world influences with beach inspired elements. The aim was to appeal to buyers in Naples who want their home to be current, but are resistant to anything too modern or trendy.

All of the backdrops in the home are light and bright. The crisp white ceiling and walls help to highlight the dark wood beams, and the French oak flooring in a driftwood finish provides a nice contrast for the rich furniture and accessories.

When you enter the great room, your eye immediately travels to the outdoor space, which is designed to transition seamlessly from the interior. “We wanted to bring focus to the outdoor living and make it feel like it was a part of the interior space,” explains Dominique LaManna.

The kitchen is the heart of this home. The cabinetry was sourced in-house, and a bright white finish was chosen in order to blend with the backgrounds, once again emphasizing the architectural details and beautiful countertops.

One of the main goals of the design team was to create a home that would appeal to both genders. “We designed different spaces for each. The women can appreciate the master suite and the kitchen, while the men can enjoy the club room that occupies the second floor,” says Caroline Ficquette.

The master suite is a glamorous retreat with a wealth of natural light. A white wide plank ceiling highlights the elegant and feminine chandelier that hangs above the upholstered bed. “ We mixed nail heads with nickel and bronze finishes to give the room some sparkle and pop,” describes Dominique.

The master bath is jaw dropping and can only be described as having a serious “wow factor”.  Mounted shape shell mirrors framed in a Chiclet tile detail flank the floating tub to create a romantic setting.

At the top of the stairs you will find yourself in a comfortable clubroom that is perfect for screening a movie or entertaining guests. All of the finishes in this part of the home are dark and rich to create a more masculine feeling. The metal cocktail table and wine chiller bring sophistication and function to the space, and the iconic movie figures are perfect as art. A breathtaking view of the golf course can be enjoyed from the second floor balcony, and a fire pit table makes this outdoor area a relaxing retreat.

Design West prides itself on their model merchandising skills. Creating a space that people can see themselves in is always their goal, and the Santa Barbara hits the mark.
