TwinEagles Close Up

TwinEagles has long been a magnet for professional golfers and those who appreciate lush, pastoral surroundings.  Now, with the opening of its second golf course and the introduction of its attractive Phase II real estate offerings, this splendid community is enjoying a renaissance. Guided by the vision of its new owners, The Ronto Group, TwinEagles promises to be more exceptional than ever.

Set on 1,115 acres of sweeping, natural preserves, TwinEagles offers golfers and homeowners a remarkable lifestyle in uncommonly beautiful surroundings. Native grasses and tall stands of oak and pine trees shelter an amazing array of wildlife and form a gentle, undulating backdrop for the exquisite homes and neighborhoods discreetly tucked along the greens and fairways that weave their way throughout the community. The Ronto Group has enlisted an exclusive cadre of the region’s finest builders to create a collection of beautifully designed Phase II homes built to exacting quality standards by Southwest Florida’s most skilled craftsman. Thoughtful planning has ensured the new homes will serve as a perfect complement to those in TwinEagle’s established neighborhoods. Golf club membership is included with the purchase of a new home.

Designed by Jack Nicklaus and his son Jack Nicklaus II, the Talon Golf Course is at the heart of TwinEagles. The legendary course is 7,193 yards and the site of the February 2012 ACE Classic—a Champions Tour event that is celebrating its 25th anniversary.  2012 marks the sixth year the Champions Tour has chosen to hold the event at TwinEagles.

“There’s a reason the pros play here,” says Kathy Miller, Vice President of Marketing of TwinEagles. “The Talon has all the unique Nicklaus staples: length, tough approach shots, and undulating greens. It is a delight for the pros because of the way it performs.  At the same time, it’s a pleasure for members at all levels because of its natural beauty and multiple tee boxes.”

The community’s new Eagle course has opened after an extensive redesign by architect Steve Smyers and his design associate, Patrick Andrews, creators of renowned courses such as Isleworth in Windermere, Florida and Old Memorial in Tampa. The team worked to design shapes and lines that are interesting, vibrant, and have a harmonious relationship to the surrounding land. The Eagle is an exceptional course for many reasons, including its elevations which are significant when compared to most Florida links. The LPGA Tour will stage its season finale, the CME Group Titleholders, at the new Eagle Course in November 2012.

To ensure that members get full use of both courses, golf membership at TwinEagles is capped at 600 members for 36 holes. TwinEagles is proud to have Dr. Jim Suttie as head of the TwinEagles Golf Academy. Dr. Suttie has been named PGA National Teacher of the Year, one of GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers and one of the Top 20 teachers in Golf Digest’s 50 Greatest Teachers list. He applies biomechanical principles to golf to maximize the relationship between each player’s natural build and their golf swing.

The view overlooking Eagle Lake underscores why TwinEagles has earned numerous honors for its natural beauty and commitment to the environment. The community has been awarded Golf Digest’s Environmental Leader in Golf Award, designation as an Audubon International Signature Sanctuary, and a national Award of Excellence from the Urban Land Institute. The golf course management team is committed to sustainable resource practices as a primary component in its long-term stewardship of the property.

This careful cultivation of resources extends well beyond the golf course. TwinEagles has two magnificently designed botanical gardens, the Palmery and the Fernery, as well as miles of walking and bicycling paths. The natural beauty and wide open spaces of TwinEagles are impressive. The views are graceful and never-ending, with frequent glimpses of deer, ducks, and eagles. Rather than the all too familiar palm trees, oaks and pines dot the landscape and create a soft, serene effect reminiscent of a Northern club. Hundreds of acres have been set aside to ensure the unspoiled landscape will continue to enchant for decades to come.

The clubhouse overlooking the Talon course at TwinEagles is a tribute to Highland manors and Scotland’s fabled St. Andrews club. With its fieldstone, rich woods, and tartan plaids, it is an instantly comfortable and relaxing home for members. The 47,000-square-foot, two-story clubhouse accommodates dining and lounge areas, as well as a pro-shop and locker rooms. The men’s and women’s locker rooms are designed in keeping with the rich decor of a Scottish manor, and are equipped with card tables, televisions, and private bars. The game room is home to a custom-built billiard table, several game tables, and bar tables. Superb Har-Tru tennis courts are also available.

The community’s abundant natural resources and first-rate amenities, as well as the new Eagle golf course, provide an attractive foundation for the Phase II homes and neighborhoods. By the end of 2012, a fully-outfitted fitness center, pool and spa, and outdoor entertainment complex will be completed.

Ten new Phase II model homes are currently available for viewing and immediate purchase. The Carina model by Harbourside Custom Homes is on display in TwinEagles’ Wicklow neighborhood. Harbourside is the winner of more than 100 design and construction awards and is known for its passionate attention to detail. Palladian-style windows and decorative elements on the façade echo the curves of the graceful arches that frame the entryway of this 2,767-square-foot home. A classic color palette accentuates the simplicity and elegance of the design.

Layers of architectural details in the ceiling define and connect the spaces within the Carina’s open floor plan. An expansive great room and adjacent study feature coffered ceilings. The kitchen, dining room, and breakfast nook have tray ceilings, as do the master bed and bath. Generous molding details in every room and contrasting color accents add drama and structure to the space.

TwinEagles is fortunate to have an abundance of lakes scattered throughout the property. Wicklow is surrounded by lakes giving virtually every home in the neighborhood a water view. The 11th and 12th holes of the Eagle course also embrace the neighborhood from both sides.

For more than 50 years, Arthur Rutenberg has been designing homes for resort living. Three of the Phase II neighborhoods, Hollybrook, Lockford Lane, and Wisteria, will feature homes by this esteemed builder. The Anastasia model is now available for viewing. It has all the hallmarks of a quintessential Florida residence, distilled into a relaxed and welcoming 2,454-square-foot home with three bedrooms, three baths, and a den.

The Bardmoor model by Arthur Rutenberg offers 2,621 square feet of living space with a generous lanai, pool, and spa area for those who appreciate Southwest Florida’s signature indoor/outdoor lifestyle. The three bedroom, three bath home with den is an exquisitely crafted space.

In the Hedgestone neighborhood, the beautiful fieldstone of the TwinEagles clubhouse also graces the entrance to the Sienna, a 3,459-square-foot custom home by the award-winning Divco Construction. Divco has been building homes with an innovative approach to space, form and light throughout Southwest Florida for nearly 30 years. With four bedrooms, four-and-half baths, three car garage, and almost 1000 square feet of outdoor entertaining space that includes a pool, spa, and an attractive, fully-equipped, outdoor kitchen, it is a home built for gracious hospitality and pleasant living.

“TwinEagles has a completely different feel from most Florida golf communities,” observes Miller. “Beyond being a golfer’s paradise, it has a wide-open, natural look. Even though it’s in Naples, you almost feel like you’re in the country. It’s a little bit off the beaten path, but it’s special. It’s worth the drive.”

While there have been many changes at TwinEagles since September 2010 when The Ronto Group took ownership, the most important thing remains unchanged an absolute commitment to providing a world-class golf experience and an extraordinary residential lifestyle.

“The vision for TwinEagles never varies,” explains Miller. “It has always been a gracious and exceptional community. We’re fortunate to be surrounded by such natural abundance and to have such amazing amenities and homes. Everyone who comes here is struck by how special it is.”
