This transitional southwest Florida home in a golfing community in North Naples combines the best of tropical architecture with a hint of British West Indies flavor. The multi-level roof with concrete tiles, shutters gracing the tall windows, double door front entry and neutral colored trim give the exterior a classic look, with a nod to the contemporary. Twin two-car garages flanking the porte-cochère are reached via a driveway set with multi-toned pavers.
As you enter the foyer of this former model home it is evident why it is a project of pride for design duo Diana Hall and Laurie Walter, co-principals of Cinnabar Design in Naples.
“This is our favorite home as a team that we have ever done,” says Walter. “I love the overall mood. It is very comfortable and inviting.” Hall continues, “From the minute you walk through the front door it relaxes you. The palette is neutral and calm, and the interiors are grand and gracious, yet down to earth. You feel as if you could come in with sandy feet, and later greet guests for a formal cocktail party.”

Stunning wood cerused oak flooring, inset with a series of rectangular mosaics, leads the way into the home’s entry foyer. Calming gray paint meets white crown moulding in a classic design, and art glass plates custom-blown by a Florida artist cascade down the walls. The linear ladder ceiling detail echoes some of the elements of the exterior and mirrors the rectangular design on the floor below. Cinnabar designed floating backlit oak wall panels to add warmth to the parlor beyond. They selected a quartet of Bernhardt club chairs with plush velvet pillows for functional seating for reading or intimate conversation. Twin linear bronze-based and marble-topped Vanguard tables take the place of a coffee table. A Currey & Co. open box-work chandelier shines with a silver patina.

A Williams Sonoma glass-topped sawhorse table with chrome legs acts as a desk when used with the linen Parson’s chair in the study. LEDs downlight wall alcoves and the workspace beneath a basket-weave ceiling detail. A timeless linen and oak armchair with pinstripes adds texture, partnering with a small Bernhardt marble table. A Surya sisal rug leads the eye to the French doors, which open to a custom cherry wood wet bar with floating selves. Shadow boxes holding sea fans flank the windows.

The ceiling beams help delineate this family room space with fully pocketing sliding doors for a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. The entertainment center is custom-made to the designers’ specifications by Final Touch Moulding & Cabinetry. A comfortable Vanguard taupe linen L-shaped sectional contrasts with a pewter linen occasional chair. A Bernhardt glass-topped table reflects both the light of a metal-wrapped lamp by Flo Décor and the Arteriors sculptural wood chandelier. Abstract wall art by Left Bank completes the room.

Cinnabar created a glass-walled wine room in the dining room from a space originally designated as a second pantry. The designers selected a barn door on rails as a functional design element between the kitchen and dining room, allowing for quiet dinner conversation while food is being prepped. An Arteriors chandelier by Laura Kirar, hung from the rectangular coffered dining room ceiling, depicts angel trumpets wrought in iron and amber glass. The Vanguard oak table features a Barrington finish. Side chairs of textured linen offer subtle contrast to the host and hostess chairs with nail-head trim.

The café area is designed to be creative and above all functional. A coffee bar includes storage and dual refrigerators for morning beverages and evening libations. Hall and Walter designed a wrap-around banquette of striped linen and tongue-and-groove wood detail to anchor the casual dining space to the window wall with nail-headed cornice, fabricated in heavy hemp. Decorative pillows by Vanguard and Duralee create a backrest. Two Parsons chairs clad in oatmeal tweed add additional seating at the rustic Orient Express oak table with chrome base. After dark, an open metal pendant chandelier lights the nook.

The wood-beam ceiling detail continues in the expansive gourmet kitchen. Cinnabar re-proportioned the size and layout of the kitchen’s Carrara Grigio quartz-topped dual islands which feature Mecca Omega Pearl White cabinetry and appliances from Monark Premium Appliances. Under-counter lighting reflects off the Everest Tile porcelain mosaic backsplash. Upholstered black metal-framed bar stools provide a French-retro industrial feel. A trio of globe pendants by Arteriors lights the scene.
Stock Development, the builder of this four-bedroom, four-full and one-half bath, 4,427 square feet under air home in a prestigious golfing community in North Naples allowed the designers great freedom in customizing interior details. Cinnabar replaced what was once a pantry with a glass-walled wine room, added cohesive ceiling details, focal walls, and custom features to give the home the “wow” factor memorable to potential buyers.
“We work closely with our interior design team to make sure that all of the finest details are included in our Estate Homes. Today’s buyer looks for a casual but luxurious feel to their home and our entire team focuses on making that vision a reality,” says Stock Development vice president Claudine Leger-Wetzel.
Architect Alberto Abad implores a similar philosophy, “I wanted to create an interior space of privacy and comfort, flooded with natural light, but still connect the home to the outside, the stunning landscaping, lovely pool, and championship golf course just through the home’s glass doors.”
The Cinnabar team took Abad’s plan and through the selection of backgrounds and well-planned details, created an interior space that calls for little embellishment.
“Even without any furniture or anything, the backgrounds make this home. That is an unusual design opportunity, to be able to put that much into those selections,” describes Walter. “It like getting dressed for a big event—when you already have the incredible stunning jewelry, no matter what you put on you will look great!”
Leger-Wetzel also recognizes this home’s dream design, “This house truly exemplifies the luxury Florida lifestyle with an amazing entertainment space and the beauty of indoor and outdoor living evident throughout the home.”

A crosscut Dolomite marble floor is replicated in the shower where Cinnabar selected insets of sea foam green marble to provide interest. Dual showerheads and a rainfall showerhead offer luxurious options. A gray-toned wall covering continues the soothing atmosphere, as does the subtle Omega Pearl cabinetry. A freestanding Kohler porcelain tub basks in the light of the large window and a metal and Lucite Murray Feiss trapeze chandelier.

This elegant master bedroom features a painted wood dresser and Regina Andrews Mercury glass lamps set atop Belle Meade nightstands with chrome hardware. The Bernhardt bed features a tufted linen headboard with Legacy linen bedding and pillows by Anna French. A faux snow leopard throw adds a touch of whimsy, as do the mirrored ends of the Vanguard bench. Applied wall moulding creates drama, heightened by the box-in-box ceiling detail. The room’s sitting area hosts a Vanguard chaise in shimmering fabric and a hexagon table for geometric interest.

An example of the cohesiveness of design, the stained cypress tongue-and-groove beamed ceiling bridges the indoor-outdoor connection. Twin metal framed all-weather rattan sofas with Sunbrella cushions and nesting tables of extruded aluminum with hand-painted wood graining invite guests to put their feet up in front of the marble mosaic fronted fireplace. The Ebel dining table is surrounded by aluminum chairs upholstered in Sparkle Dove performance fabric for ease of maintenance.

Glass mosaic tiles in shades of cappuccino and mocha add accents to the spa and fountains pouring into the pool from the raised deck. Ebel chaises in a driftwood finish are perfect for sunbathing while espresso Adirondack chairs are grouped for relaxing conversation around the fire pit in this inviting outdoor oasis.
