Forward Thinking

The coastal-influenced two-story, Catalina model in Cortile at Mediterra embodies the energized, forward thinking, beyond trend approach of builder Mark Wilson.

This 5,288-square-foot home features a great room that flows into the kitchen and café. From there, the café opens to an outdoor living space that includes kitchen, island bar, custom pool, spa and fire pit. A comfortable master suite opens to the trellis and patio which includes a bath with garden shower. The first floor also offers a formal dining room, bonus room, and two guest suites. On the second floor are a spacious loft, wet bar,  guest suite, and a cozy overlook with outdoor fireplace.

Jennifer Stevens, senior design director, created the Catalina’s interior. She designed a welcoming furniture plan, ideal for entertaining or family gatherings. Light background tones play to the home’s open flow and are accented by rich, warm contrasts.

“The Catalina offers multiple places to socialize, including the outdoor area, the bonus room, and the loft,” says Stevens. “With all the places to congregate, the home is perfect for family occasions or dinner parties. I envisioned the great room being the primary social space and displayed art rather than a television on the feature wall. This home has clean contemporary detailing and the builder’s team had the precision required to pull it off, giving great attention to the details and the level of finishes.”

The great room feature wall has a surface detail with elements that provide depth and dimension.  There is a series of back-lit ceiling trays in the gallery hall that separates the dining room from the living area. One also notices the level of detail in the loft’s staircase and in the architectural columns and windows that define the dining room.

The two-story, 5,288-square-foot Catalina furnished model in Cortile at Mediterra features a motor court with two 2-car garages. The home’s coastal contemporary influence is revealed in its custom wood and glass front door which complements the warmth of the stacked stone columns and garage door finish.

The Catalina model offers multiple places to socialize, including the great room, outdoor area, bonus room, and loft. Beautifully detailed, the loft space provides a private place for guests in the upstairs suite to unwind. For the owners of the residence, the loft offers a relaxed setting for conversation and television viewing. The availability of the home’s multiple gathering areas provides a living experience that is fresh and varied.

Light backgrounds in the great room play to the open feeling of the floor plan and are accented by rich, warm contrasts. With numerous places to congregate, the home is perfect for family occasions or dinner parties. Stevens envisioned the great room as the primary social space with a pair of L-shaped sofas in light linen with silk pillows in pops of green. The home’s many niche’s, generous hallways, and windows give it a gallery quality to display the many contemporary works of art.

The home’s fully-integrated kitchen design creates a focal point. Drawers replace traditional cabinet fronts allowing for countertop appliances to be neatly tucked away, keeping the space clean and unencumbered. A waterfall quartz-topped center island easily services the kitchen and acts as a bar for entertaining.

The dining area conveys an updated sense of elegance that allows comfort and livability to move to the forefront.

The Catalina model’s master bedroom is designed to maintain a pleasing connection with the outdoors, and allows homeowners to fully enjoy the stunning surroundings of Southwest Florida’ sun-kissed lifestyle.

The shape of the stand-alone tub in the master bath reflects the interior design’s contemporary influences, and the stone used to finish the model’s outdoor shower exemplifies the variety of natural elements found throughout the home. The delicately balanced mix creates a comfortable ambiance that is both familiar and new.

A sunset overlook off the second floor loft provides a private getaway with a pleasing mix of natural textured elements. The fireplace from Grate Fireplace & Outdoor Living continues the clean, contemporary detailing.

The pool and outdoor living area provide a visually stunning area to complement the Catalina model. While the custom L-shaped pool with sun shelf is a captivating focal point, the outdoor kitchen, island bar, and fire pit from Grate Fireplace & Outdoor Living continue the home’s emphasis on providing a series of gathering spaces—all ideal for entertaining. A large figurative sculpture adds artistic interest.
