Refined Beauty

Beauty in simplicity is what drives the interior design of this waterside home in Country Club East of Lakewood Ranch — one of the Sarasota neighborhoods that STOCK Development frequently builds in. “Designed for the way we live, it is neither precious nor formal, but rather a collection of warm materials, relaxed comfort, and lots of subtle textural style,” interior designer Gail Carlson Brundage of Studio G Home describes the design concept that also draws inspiration from the gentle nature of her repeat clients. A diverse company, STOCK Signature Homes has a twenty-year history providing high-quality luxury homes for Southwest Florida — combine that with Brundage’s intuition and the results are second to none.

To impart the feeling of calm in an uncertain world, Brundage layers soft textures, delicate shimmers, and quiet patterns in this serene, monochromatic color palette. Stretching beyond the client’s previous home’s traditional design, Brundage creates a transitional style, adding a soupçon of modern influence. “There is strength in simple form,” shares Brundage, and with her expert “color sense”, she creates peaceful symmetry between the home’s spaces.

Brundage avoids overt patterning and aims for beauty in simplicity. Where she does add pattern, she does it with absolute intent. A delicate blossom motif on the great room’s swivel chairs relates to the botanical accents in the dining room, using pattern to harmonize the spaces.

Tone-on-tone shades of mushroom and taupe are seen in the master bed and bath, and the layers of texture here are a visual delight. These design-rich spaces are given considerable thought to be made livable with durable finishes and washable fabrics. The lavender and dusty-rose bedroom stands firm in the home’s design constitution, showcasing a playful bohemian style that is both intricate and genteel.

Greg Weber, partner in South Florida Design | Architecture, describes a strong working relationship between his firm and STOCK Signature Homes. “We work hand-in-hand with the builder to develop the product line for communities and know the features that are important to sales in the area,” shares Weber. Claudine Leger-Wetzel, vice president of STOCK Development, attributes strong sales in Lakewood Ranch to, “homebuyers looking for a sense of security and peacefulness that comes with the experience of luxury indoors and outdoors within a walkable community.”

Brundage shares, “When we start a project we ask, ‘How do you want your home to feel?’” She and her team at Studio G Home pull inspiration from subtle colors and forms to create a place of rejuvenation and thoughtful pause. The result defines beauty in simplicity and is simply beautiful.

The space carries an effortless simplicity — clean lines ease the eye from one piece to another while subtle textures found in the rug, sofa pillow-backs, and velvet fabric from Studio G Home create a dynamic experience. Powdery sky-blue, taupe, polished nickel, and creamy white comprise the soothing colorway, while light reflects off the shimmering accent fabrics. The pendant from Tech Lighting with delicate spurs injects modern character, further layering the design concept.

“The entryway mirror represents simple forms,” describes interior designer and owner of Studio G Home Gail Carlson Brundage. Although simple in form, the mirror provides layers of intricacy that elevate the design. Atop the painted demilune console table from Studio G Home sits a pair of one-of-a-kind table lamps. These special table lamps by a local antique dealer are composed of antique fragments that feature rectangular open-back linen shades, brass acanthus leaves, and a crackle-white finish on an acrylic base.

An intricate starburst chandelier brightens this whimsical dining room. The chairs’ floral fabric delightfully stands out against the white oak flooring — selected at the STOCK Signature Homes’ Design Center. To accentuate wood grain, Brundage selects a pleated-front buffet with a ceruse finish. The sheers’ ultra-fine geometric forms “furthers the concept of subtle patterning,” says Brundage. Elevating this dining room, Sherwin-Williams’ Sea Salt in the ceiling tray perfectly ties in with the soft blue accents in the furnishings from Studio G Home.

“Nothing is really white-white,” shares Brundage, “You can see the snow-white dishes, but everything is done in softened shades of cream, white, and oyster to create a softer ambiance.” Brundage customizes the soffit, lowering it to the cabinets, and frames the stainless steel hood with pilasters. The shimmering white mosaic backsplash continues beyond the corner revealing floating shelves. A stunning quartz adorns the cabinetry done in a white-on-gray glaze.

Soft, washable silk and linen fabrics on the bedding give this master a feeling of quiet luxury. The duvet features a dimensional fronds pattern that shimmers in the light. Warm silver, chocolatey gray, and deep champagne colors accent the bed by Studio G Home. Flanking the tufted headboard are graceful nightstands in a mushroom color. A touch of modern flair is found in the crystal lamps by Studio G Home.

The white marble backsplash installed in a herringbone pattern creates a striking feature wall for this master bathroom, carrying the subtle use of pattern. Custom backlit mirrors from Studio G Home highlight the texture of the backsplash and give a lighter-than-air feeling as they appear to float. A simple wave pattern on the pure white bath rugs creates movement and balances the deep mushroom contrast colors of the space.

This luxurious pool bath leads to the outdoor living and lakefront views. Bold movement is found in the quartz countertop’s veining, while the porcelain floor tile livens the experience. A trio of hazy blue vases and polished chrome sconces instill the home’s color and style into this functional space.

To create a playful bohemian feel, Brundage uses a textural mix of paisley and macramé accents on the bedding. Evoking the home’s muted color palette, the room is full of creams, soft whites, dusty rose, and playful pinks against a backdrop of pale lavender. The rope and tassel wall hanging adds layers of texture, and hangs above a velvet blush upholstered chair. Glass table lamps with a pearly white and violet ombré add glitz to this cheerful room by Studio G Home.

South Florida Design | Architecture creates a simple and clean version of the popular coastal style by excluding the typical features of corbels and brackets, yet keeping the rectangular window shapes and stucco-lap siding to achieve this timeless elevation. Lantern sconces flank the grand entrance and repeat in the freestanding lantern highlighting the landscape. Warm earth tones on the brick driveway flatter the greenery that uses layers and varying heights to create dynamic curb appeal.
