Southwest Florida : Home Tour : Effortless Elegance

Inspired by the seaside villas of Spain, Italy and Greece, Mediterranean style homes offer a unique mix of intrigue, flair, and sophistication. Stock Signature Homes’ Cristale estate at Quail West is no exception. After entering the circular driveway, one is immediately impressed by the expansive exterior of this impressive single story 4,427 square foot home.

The strategic placement of majestic palm trees in varying heights adds an element of the dramatic, enhancing the architectural features of the home, especially the bell towers symmetrically placed on either side of the front entryway, curved archways, and sleek, driftwood-colored roof tiles. At the same time, a neutral palette of sand and gray-blue offset the theatrical, evoking an inviting, welcoming atmosphere. Cristale is luxurious, but in an understated and refined manner. In many ways, the philosophy “less is more” is applied, but only where it is sure to have the greatest impact. “This home is a shining star in our repertoire of new homes in Naples reflecting the most current trends in today’s luxury lifestyle,” says Claudine Leger-Wetzel, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Stock Development.

Upon entering, the foyer’s 15-foot-high ceiling creates a grand welcome. Cool, soft gray walls beautifully offset the dark wood settees flanking both sides of the entryway where two arched niches finished in chiseled stacked stone create texture, visual interest, and a centuries-old authenticity. “The interior is a fresh take on Old Florida,” describes Kaitlyn Minardo, Senior Designer at Soco Interiors in Winter Park responsible for the home’s interior design. “I was going for rustic yet classic elements.” It is a concept that is clearly defined throughout. Underfoot, large, diagonally set travertine tiles adorn in a style reminiscent of a typical Italian villa, while an eye-catching over-scaled glass lantern chandelier provides the perfect centerpiece overhead.

The open concept kitchen/family room area is delightful and bright. Equipped with state-of-the-art appliances, a double island, and separate butler’s pantry, the entire space features a charming wide-plank, tongue-and-groove coffered ceiling. The warm, muted, saffron-colored walls, luscious cream-toned velvet sofas, and playful mix of floral and striped fabrics create an inviting air that’s relaxed but elegant. Gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows along the back wall provide lots of natural light and immediate access to the covered lanai.

The formal dining room adds a touch of panache and a hint of masculinity by incorporating a unique brick veneer on the coffered ceiling and wall niche, masterfully set in a herringbone pattern. The same rich palette of golds, grays, and blues is maintained throughout the rooms while exhibiting a cool, streamlined elegance. To compliment that coolness, every room features extravagantly designed chandeliers that serve as striking focal points. “Scale is very important,” says Minardo. “We wanted to incorporate impressive fixtures that would still be proportional to the home.”

Beautiful windows, exquisite woodwork, and high ceilings create a roomy, airy feeling that offer a wonderful connection to the outdoors and a gracious transition from one living area to the next. Each of the bedrooms encompasses all the elements indicative of a luxury weekend getaway. The master bedroom and bath are larger and grander in scale and expression with French doors leading out to the pool and terrace. The tall tufted linen headboard, oatmeal linen chairs and aqua crystal chandelier make this a captivating space. The mix of blue and pewter shades, textured fabrics, and muted metallics generate a spa-like quality that is luxurious but understated.

The revisiting of similar themes throughout promotes a pleasing continuity and sense of hospitality and relaxation that is undeniable. The outdoor living space also exhibits the benefits of these soothing qualities. “With its grand view of the golf course… the ease of Southwest Florida entertaining is brought to a new level,” adds Leger-Wetzel. The covered lanai features a stained tongue-and-groove ceiling, built-in fireplace, lounge, dining and kitchen area thus offering the perfect spot for informal gatherings, romantic dinners, or larger scale events. Pristinely landscaped, the pool and spa is a work of art in itself. With three fountains causing a rippling effect across the water, and evening lights reflecting off the surface, its geometrical shape turns into a virtual abstract painting illuminating the surrounding terrace and transforming it into the quintessential backyard oasis. Whether vacation getaway or primary residence, Cristale is the perfect place to start and end a perfect day.
